Lobster Stitch Crochet Pattern

You know, when I was a greenhorn crocheter, I saw a design that used a Lobster stitch crochet pattern. It was for a hanging ring and looked great and I was all but ready to make it. The only trouble was I didn’t know how to make the Lobster stitch! Then I was introduced to the joys of the Internet and search engines and my crocheting days got a new lease of life. Because now I could not only learn the stitch but also find hundreds of patterns that used it.

Its true, asking around your friend circle for a design that uses the lobster stitch crochet pattern could be tedious as compared to finding one on the web. Just type in the keyword into a search engine and you’ll be surprised at the number of websites that it spews up. Free patterns, tutorials and guides plus the facility of buying all your yarn, different types of hooks needed and customized patterns – all of that is just a click away on the World Wide Web, its that easy.

The Lobster stitch is basically used to make cords that look a lot like crocheted braids. You can use these cords to make a variety of items like a Spice braid for your kitchen, a jump rope or use it for making fridgies. It is a basic stitch that needs just a beginner level expertise and can be made in a matter of minutes with some practice. When I first learned how to make a cord using this stitch, I couldn’t understand why it was called Lobster stitch. That was until I successfully managed to make one – I kid you not, it looks like a juicy Lobster, good enough to chomp down!
