Thread Crochet Christmas Patterns

This holiday season I decided to add a little more piazzaz to our tree- the old fashioned way. “What better way to do that than to make some ornaments using thread crochet Christmas patterns?” I thought to myself. I remember my grandmother sitting in her rocking chair with the crochet hook in her hands, deftly creating one ornament after the other to be put up on the tree. These were family heirlooms, which had the place of pride on our Christmas tree when we were growing up and I wanted to leave something similar for my grandchildren.

Now there are so many thread crochet Christmas patterns one could use to add a personal touch to the decoration but let’s face it – I am an old woman with failing eyesight and an even worse memory. So since I couldn’t remember a lot of patterns I almost gave up the project. That was until my grandson introduced me to the joys of the Internet! Why didn’t they make something like that in my times? I took some tutorials from my grandson and started flitting about online to find some patterns.

And did I find them! Thread patterns, Christmas ornament patterns, snowflake patterns…you name it and it’s there. I’ve always like to work with thread and the web helps me by throwing up so many designs like the pineapple star tree top ornament, a wide variety of Christmas snowflakes, even a snowman and candy cane cover patterns.

You can get free tutorials, lots of how – to guides and free patterns on the web. You can even buy thread and hooks for crocheting on the Internet. Now, for an old granny like me, this sounds just fine. I can sit right here in my chair, get all the supplies I need, pick out the thread patterns I like and make some memories for my family. Yes, sounds just fine to me.
